Summary:

This workshop is suitable for mothers, fathers, couples or caregivers who are interested in learning about different parenting styles and how to raise their children more effectively. Being a parent should be a wonderful time in our lives, but for some it may not be easy due to various reasons such as heavy life rhythms, busy work schedules, personal issues including emotional, relational or other environmental factors, and when we raise children, we may inadvertently trigger the “baggage” or trauma from our own lives or childhood that we have not completed. In various situations and reasons, we ignore our own psychological or physical health, we feel helpless, troubled, tired, sleepless, emotionally challenged, lose balance, become irritable, but expect ourselves to do our best, so we often feel guilty.

The “Positive Parenting Workshop” helps us become aware of our emotional state, learn to process and improve negative emotions, use our own resources (such as gratitude, kindness, and mindfulness), learn positive psychological parenting, and enhance parenting confidence. We learn effective communication skills and empathy, which enable us to embark on a happy and powerful path of raising children.

The workshop includes the following content:

Session 1 - Understanding and regulating your emotions

We focus on the elements of family strength and some typical family dynamics. We will discuss the emotions of mothers, fathers, and caregivers, and how they affect the family environment. Understand your dominant emotions and how to regulate them. We will introduce “self-care” exercises as the first step in effective parenting, and discuss why we generate negative emotions and use positive emotions (Positive Psychology). You will experience “meditation practice” in the course.

Session 2 - Communicating with empathy

As a mother or father, how do you communicate with your children? We will discuss “empathetic communication” - one of the key environments for children to learn and grow. We will discuss some common, unhealthy ways of thinking, how they affect good communication skills, and the triggering factors of negative emotions or anger.

Session 3 - Resolving family conflicts

Many times, conflicts and contradictions among family members can make parents feel helpless, children’s emotions troubled, and various uncontrollable bad situations arise, affecting family operations, and long-term non-treatment can lead to physiological and psychological disorders of family members. Through expectation management, preventive behavior, and some small tips/steps, we can shift our attention and start to better manage differences or find important information from conflicts.
